She was the daughter of Thomas Catlett and Martha, whose maiden name is unknown.Martha married William Hampton, who was born 09 Oct 1685 in Hampfield, Gloucester, Colony of Virginia, British Colonial America; and died before March 13, 1749/50 in Stafford, Colony of Virginia, British Colonial America. Hampton Plantation consists of the manor house named "Hampton" and the fourteen acres that remain of the original plantation. Hampton stands on a hill which is the second highest point in Calvert County. Designated a Maryland historic property in November 1983, it is a fine example of Federal architecture and is an important landmark for the Property to rent in Plantations Estate. On 25 March 1651, Hampton, age 59, was granted 700 acres on the east side of the Eastermost River below Pudding Swamp (Put-In-Creek,) near the present town of Mathews, Va. where he established Hampfield plantation that sameyear. His first property was at old Point Comfort, near Mobjack Bay in Gloucester Co. VA, then Isle of Wight Co., then Eastermont River, where he built a plantation named "Hampfield" after 1651. He was a wool merchant, buying wool from other Virginians and shipping it to his brother Laurence Hampton in London, who was a merchant tailor. His first property was at Old Point Comfort in Hampton near Mobjack Bay in Gloucester County, He later lived in Isle of Wight County, After 1752 William built the Hampfield plantation on the Eastermont River in Gloucester County, Virginia. He continued his career as a wool merchant, buying wool from other Virginians.
